Information

In the following you will find a few guidelines on how to participate in the 7th doctoral congress of the Observatoire de Lyon. The congress will take place on November 9th, 2017 in the Dirac amphitheater on the Doua campus. The deadline for abstract submission is set on the 02/11/2017.

Registration and types of presentation

There are two types of presentations: oral or poster. Any doctoral student from the Observatoire de Lyon can present his or her work at the congress, regardless of current study year. To submit an abstract, you first have to create an account on the present website.

Oral presentations

An oral presentation is composed of a maximum of 10 minutes of presentation by the author and 5 minutes of questions by the audience. We ask the presenters to make sure that they provide a presentation that is understandable by the largest audience.

The authors can choose in which language the presentation is given. However, we encourage the presenters to give their presentations in french and to provide slides in english to be understandable by most.

An abstract submission is required for every presentation and is limited to 1200 characters, ideally in french. You can add an image to the abstract.

A computer will be available on the day of the congress, and we kindly ask the authors to provide a PDF version of their presentation in advance.

Posters

The poster format is set to A0 format (47x33 inches). More information and guidelines can be found on the Observatoire de Lyon reprography website (http://observatoire.univ-lyon1.fr/infographie-reprographie-posters-790605.kjsp?RH=1392321878834). The authors can choose wether to print and present their posters in french of english.

An abstract submission is required for every presentation and is limited to 1200 characters, ideally in french.

Before the first poster session, the authors are asked to briefly present their poster in 1 minute on stage. To this end, we kindly ask the authors to provide a single slide in PDF format presenting the theme of the poster before the congress. The goal is to attract the largest possible audience to your poster !

Evaluation of the presentations

This year, several prizes will be awarded to the best oral and poster presentations, by both the audience and a jury composed of CRAL and LGL researchers. The main criterium for these awards will be pedagogy, as the aim of this congress is to allow and promote the discussion between scientists from very diverse fields (astrophysics, planetology, geodynamics, seismology, paleontology, sedimentology, geochemestry, mineralogy...). Therefore we kindly ask the authors to provide clear and didactic presentations that can be placed in a larger context than just their own field for everyone to understand their research project.

We look forward to welcoming you to the 7th Congres des Doctorants de l'Observatoire de Lyon!
